Alicia "Lisa" Jones

Mrs. Alicia (Lisa) O’Neal Jones, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, October 31, 2024, after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness. She was born to the Rev. Dr. Jackie and Barbara O’Neal and was a beloved member of their family. Lisa’s spiritual journey began at Holden Chapel Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, SC, where she was baptized. She attended Blue Ridge High School in Greer, SC, where her talent in track and field shone brightly. A true athlete, Lisa broke numerous school records, earning awards and trophies for her accomplishments. After high school, Lisa attended the University of South Carolina, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Not one to rest on her laurels, she pursued further studies and obtained a master’s degree in early childhood development from South Carolina State University. Lisa met her soulmate, Mr. David Jones of Spartanburg, SC, during her college years, and they shared a marriage of love and companionship for 19 wonderful years. Together, they raised one son, Mr. Lewis Xavier Jones, and built a family home in Columbia, SC. Lisa’s teaching career flourished in Columbia, where she taught for over a decade. Though the family later relocated due to David’s career, living in Texas, Simpsonville, SC, and eventually Spartanburg, SC, Lisa continued to teach, sharing her passion and knowledge wherever they went. Lisa is survived by a family who will forever cherish her memory. She leaves behind her devoted husband, David Jones; her beloved son, Lewis Jones; her parents, Rev. Dr. Jackie and Barbara O’Neal; her brother, Steven Antonio O’Neal; three nephews, Zion, Isaiah, and Jonah O’Neal; and sister-in-law, La Rhe O’Neal, all of Powder Springs, GA. Her mother-in-law, Mrs. Doris Jones of Spartanburg, SC, also mourns her as well as her brother-in-law, Mr. Anthony (Tee) Jones, along with his son Asa, of Atlanta, GA, along with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Andrea (LaJuan) Mills of Fayetteville, NC. Additionally, Lisa leaves behind her grandmother, Mrs. Telora McGowens of Travelers Rest, SC; her husband’s grandmother, Mrs. Roberta Alston of Philadelphia, PA; and a large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Lisa was a remarkable wife, mother, teacher, and friend whose legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory will remain a cherished blessing in the lives of those she touched. The family will receive friends Friday, November 8, 2024, from 12pm until 1pm at Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow the visitation on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 1pm at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with burial to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. **THE SERVICE WILL BE LIVE-STREAMED ON MOUNT SINAI BAPTIST CHURCH FACEBOOK AND YOUTUBE PAGES!** Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Cancer Society 139 S.
