Barry Gregg Barbour July 1, 1957 – April 22, 2026 Barry Gregg Barbour, 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 22, 2026. Born on July 1, 1957, in Rogersville, Tennessee, Barry spent part of his childhood in Maryland and lived most of his life in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where he became known and loved by many. Barry is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda; his children Gregg (Jenni), Nate (Kristen); grandchildren Karis, Josiah, Jayce, Jaxon, Atalie, and Nolan; stepson Michael Ferguson; step-grandchildren Cameron, Lana, Quentin, Asa, and Lizzy; and his sister Sonya “Sandy” Mason (Gary), his nephews, Gene (Lori), Scott (Kayla), and great nieces and nephews Brittany (Michael), Jordan (Emily), Myla, Sophie, Tucker, and great nephew Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Bailey Barbour. Barry was truly one of a kind—an entertainer at heart, a man who never met a stranger, and someone whose joyful spirit could light up any room. If you knew Barry, you knew laughter. He was a total cut-up, a goofball in the best sense of the word, and his contagious personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved music deeply and had a lifelong appreciation for Elvis Presley, bluegrass, country, and gospel music. Barry spent many years playing in different bands and treasured every opportunity to jam with friends and family. He recorded several CDs in his home studio and wrote hundreds of songs and skits. His creativity, talent, and love for entertaining will continue through the family he was so proud of. He loved going to the movies, spending time with family, playing sports especially softball with the guys, any type of card games, & any opportunity to play a practical joke. Barry wore many hats throughout his life, working as a salesman, truck driver, pastor, music store owner, worship leader, preacher, Vacation Bible School leader, puppeteer, and concrete truck driver. No matter the role, he gave it his energy, humor, and heart. Above all else, Barry loved Jesus and wanted others to know Him. His faith was real, vibrant, and central to the way he lived. He loved his wife and family more than anything in this world. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Barry’s legacy of faith, music, laughter, and love lives on in all who knew him. He has now been reunited with his mother and father, along with many dear friends, in “heaven’s green fields.” A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at The Howze Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at the chapel at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 30th. Burial will follow at Coleman Memorial Cemetery.
