Calvin Cruell

Calvin Cruell, 66, of Travelers Rest, passed away, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Easley Baptist Hospital. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Jess and Janie Mae Thompson Cruell. He had been employed by Milliken, Gayley Plant, Embtex, presently with Texas Pipe and Supply, and a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 23 years: Grace Pepper Cruell; daughters: Valerie Cruell, Kwacha Cruell Holloway(Eddie); son: Justin Cruell; grandchildren: Chasity Holloway, Donte Holloway, Marie Holloway, Collin Cruell, Ella Cruell; brothers: Larry Cruell, Emanuel Cruell, Angelo Cruell, Jackie Cruell; sisters: Estella Cruell, Gloria Cruell, Linda Gordon, Grace Neely; and many loving nieces and nephews. Our son, our brother, our uncle, our father, let’s not forget the mark he left here with us his remaining family. Every action, every gesture for his family and friends was always from his heart. There was never a moment when he wasn’t there for us. Our dad was a true to heart man. He was open and honest about what he felt in any situation, his attitude stood tall for family and friends, even though he stood 5’ 5” his spirit was always big. This man worked harder than anyone I know, staying busy is part of what gave him joy. I know he complained some of the time, but if you knew him, then you know it came from a good place in his heart, and that’s how he was brought up as a young man. I can see grandma saying son, get up and put that day’s work in. Grandma loved all her children as they always enjoyed a good meal with family and friends, because that’s one thing dad loved was a good meal after a long day. Along with his parents he was predeceased by a sister: Mary Nell Cruell; and brothers: Jesse James Cruell, Lennon Russell Cruell, Charlie Foster(Cruell), and Maurice Cruell. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 1pm until 2pm at The Howze Mortuary. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2pm in The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will be at the home.
