Ms. Debra Marie Kelley

Debra Marie Kelley, 68, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2026. Born in Defiance, Ohio, Debra was the beloved daughter of Bernard and Jeaneane Deatrick. Throughout her life, she found joy not in grand or complicated things, but in the simple blessings that made each day warm and meaningful. She worked as a caregiver for many years, a reflection of the compassion, kindness, and a caring heart she shared so freely with others. She spent the later part of life with her companion, Lee Butler, who helped her embrace the peace and pleasure in life she valued. Above all else, Debra adored her family. She held every opportunity to dedicate time to her children and grandchildren as precious. She took immense pride in being a grandmother as well. Her family was her greatest joy. She immersed herself in watching her grandchildren grow, being a part of what shaped them and creating everlasting memories with them. She was also a proud “grandma” to her grand dogs, Loli Marie and Titus, who held a special place in her heart. Debra enjoyed gardening, cooking, and the comfort of home. She had a way of finding happiness in the daily graces of life—making a meal and sharing it with family, working in her garden, listening to music, connecting with others. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, and her thoughtfulness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was an anchor, a pillar of strength, a loyal soul and a haven for many. She was radiant. Debra is survived by her children, Ronnie Nihiser and Jenny Nihiser; her grandchildren, Colburn Kelley, Emma Cochrane, Kaiden Nihiser, and ; a great-grandchild on the way; her additional grandchildren, Tommy Jo, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Alysia , Brayln, Xander, Rayden, and Samaira; and her siblings, Diane and David. In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas “Gene” Kelley, and her siblings, Bernard, Bart, and Linda. Debra leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind a legacy of love—a family who will carry her laughter, goodwill, recipes, stories, and the lessons she taught them in their hearts. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her, but she will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, family, friends, and beloved pets who brought purpose to her life. Though our hearts are heavy with her absence, we find comfort knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with those she loved who went before her, and resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her life was a gift, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain forever. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 1:00pm until 1:50pm with a service to follow at 2:00pm in the chapel of The Howze Mortuary.
