DeWitt Wilson, Jr.

DeWITT T. WILSON, JR. TAYLORS, SC DeWitt Talmadge Wilson, Jr., 82, of 4017 Locust Hill Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late DeWitt T. Wilson, Sr. and Ina Cowan Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served on the LST-559; he owned and operated an automotive dealership in Greenwood, SC and was in the automotive business for over 60 years. He was a founding organizer and past president of The Grand American in Orangeburg, SC, a member of the National Plott Hounds Association and Upper Carolina Sportsman Club. He was a member of Marietta First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class where he previously served as Sunday School teacher Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Doris Standridge Wilson of the home; 2 daughters: Joan Ledford and husband Ronnie of Travelers Rest and Anna Dean Caldwell and husband Lee of Greenville; son: Greg Wilson and wife Paige of Simpsonville; 2 sisters: Wilma Ponder of Greenwood and Helen Hodges of Hodges; 2 brothers: Ralph Wilson and Marett Wilson both of Greenwood; granddaughter: DeAnna Thompson; 3 grandsons: Brody Ledford, Hunter and Tyler Wilson and a great-granddaughter: Lee Kathryn Thompson. He was predeceased by a sister, Guynell Ridlehoover. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Marietta First Baptist Church with burial at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Section 16, Greenwood, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. The family will be at their respective homes.
