Glenda (Harris) Mullinax

GLENDA H. MULLINAX TRAVELERS REST, SC Mrs. Glenda Harris Mullinax, 64, wife of Charles Dale Mullinax, died at her home, 109 Hill Top Drive, Travelers Rest, SC, February 19, 2009, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She was born June 4, 1944 in Pickens, SC, to the late Eugene and Evie Fortner Harris, and lived most of her adult life in Travelers Rest, SC. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Mrs. Mullinax was a member of Gap Creek Baptist Church and taught children’s Sunday School for over 25 years. She was also teacher of the three and four year old class at Renfrew Baptist Church Child Development Center for 15 years, where she had a positive and lasting impact on many young lives. Surviving in addition to her husband Dale of 48 years, is her son Anthony Mullinax and wife Susan of Greenville, SC; her daughter Amy Bennett and husband Bill of Columbia, SC; her daughter Kim Thompson and husband Jeff of Columbia, SC; three brothers, Clifton Harris, David Harris and wife Nancy and Cleon Harris and wife Robin; three sisters, Evelyn Dunn and husband David, Barbara Starkey and husband Hoyt and Dorothy Lee and husband Ray; five grandchildren, Ashley Mullinax, Leslie Anne Mullinax, Katelyn Mullinax, Anna Grace Thompson, Charles Truett Thompson, and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Gap Creek Baptist Church, Marietta, SC conducted by Rev.Steve Hardin, Rev. Doug Tankersley, and Rev. Harry Levell. Burial service will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Travis Harris, Timmy Harris, Alan Harris, Todd Roberts, Greg Robertson and Joey Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class and the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends Friday evening February 20, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary in Travelers Rest, SC. The family would like to thank Ann Hightower and Lois Sain for their weekly cards-they never missed a week in 18 months. The family would also like to thank Nurse Stephanie Hemingway at the Cancer Center of the Carolinas for her loving care to Glenda during her trying days of Chemo. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Gap Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 381 Gap Creek Road, Marietta, SC 29661. The family will be at the home.
