Gregory Lee Norman

Gregory Lee Norman, 58 formerly of Dover, OH, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at his home in Tampa, FL. Born May 18, 1956 in Dover, OH, he was the son of the late Robert Earl Norman, Sr. and Margie Lee (Flowers) Davis. He graduated in 1975 from Dover High School and soon thereafter entered the US Air Force where he was stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver, CO where he trained in the aircraft armament modern avionics program. He was employed with several construction firms in Ohio and South Carolina specializing in heavy equipment machine operations and then retired to Florida. Greg was a Life Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and was a self taught bass guitar player. He was an avid sports fan, some of his favorite teams being the Dover Tornadoes, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns. Greg also enjoyed an occasional round of golf and going fishing with a later love of deep sea fishing. He will be remembered as a free spirit, and was a born again Christian. He is survived by his daughter: Alicia Norman of Memphis, TN; sister: Deborah A. Patterson of Dover, OH; two brothers: Robert E. (wife, Mary) Norman, Jr. of Beckley, W.Va. and Steven A. (wife, Laura) Norman of Taylors, S.C.; four nieces and two nephews: Nicolette (Kevin) Landon and Angela (Paul) Granchi, both of Columbus, OH, Rebecca (Brian) Fuller of Haverhill, Mass., Michelle (Matthew) Merson of Beckley, W.Va., Michael (Julie) Norman of Fort Mill, S.C. and Brian Norman of Columbia, S.C.; two aunts: Janie Flowers (John) Gartrell and Ginger Flowers Muir, both of New Philadelphia, OH; four great nieces and four great nephews. In addition to his parents, Greg was predeceased by a brother, Jerry M. Norman and his stepfather, Roy V. Davis. In keeping with his wishes, Greg will be cremated and his ashes will be entombed at the veteran’s columbarium at the M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, S.C.
