Keith Lawrence Smith

Keith Lawrence Smith, known affectionately as Bear, Dadeo, and Pappy, was born on February 27th, 1953, and left this earth on February 9th, 2025. He was a devoted husband to Dot for 54 years and a beloved Pappy to his four beautiful grandchildren. Keith was an active deacon at Powdersville First Baptist Church and had a deep passion for the Gideon International ministry, dedicated to spreading the gospel through scripture distribution. Keith came to know Jesus Christ as a young man participating in Young Life Club. He served in the military as a reservist for 15 years and was a Scoutmaster and mentor to many young men. Known for his sharp wit and quips, he was a proud member of the Romeo Breakfast Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and recently made the Wall of Fame at the local Cracker Barrel in town. Keith built and developed his own business, Honor Automation. He was known for always putting his customers first, forging numerous rich relationships and business partnerships over his career. Keith's integrity and expertise in solving complex engineering challenges made him a highly respected figure in his field. Before the days of Google Maps and online reviews, Keith was the go-to expert for finding the best barbecue joints across the country, no matter the location. His family often sought his wisdom as he faithfully followed God's direction. He loved to travel and meticulously planned family camping adventures. His favorite form of therapy involved driving with his wife Dot through the mountains of Western North Carolina, where he found peace and comfort in the higher elevations. Keith's humility and interest in others made him an incredible listener and a sought-after advisor. He had the gift of helping and giving through many church and community ministries. In his final days, he faced his illness with complete peace and put his family first in a very selfless way. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his two sons Matt (Charity) and Ryan (Bethany), and his four grandchildren Aiden, Cora, Emmy, and Samuel. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday February 16th at 3pm at Powdersville First Baptist. In his passing, we find comfort in knowing that he will hear our God say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
