Lori Lynn Turner

Lori Lynn Turner, 61, of Greenville, SC, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Lori is survived by her husband of 42 years, Randall Boyd Turner; two daughters, Clarissa Amber Waltz (Brandon) and Courtney Allison Turner; a brother, Russell Dean Painter (Susan); two sisters, Susan Elizabeth Morin (Nate) and Jan Marlee McCall (Darrell); mother-in-law, Elaine Rutledge Parry; father-in-law, William Boyd Turner, III; sister-in-law, Susan Elaine Turner; brother-in-law, Ellis Culbertson; three grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan and Addison along with many loving nieces and nephews. Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Elbert Painter and Alice Shizue Murata Painter, and sister, Deidre Lee Culbertson. Lori was born in Greenville, SC, on August 6, 1963. When she was an infant, she rarely cried. Instead, every morning, she would stand in her crib with a beautiful smile, eagerly waiting for her mom. From the time Lori could walk, she was captivated by the beauty of nature. She had a deep love for all animals, ranging from butterflies and birds to bears and tigers. Growing up, she convinced her mom to let her have a variety of pets, including a chicken, a rabbit, a cat, a dog, and any other animal she could persuade her mom to accept. Music became a priority for Lori from the moment she learned to speak. She loved listening to music and would constantly make up songs to sing to her parents, siblings, and friends. Christmas music was her absolute favorite, and she believed it was never too early to start playing it. At just six years old, Lori expressed her desire to be baptized to her mom. Together, they visited the preacher to make arrangements. Initially, he was hesitant, but after speaking with her privately and realizing that she genuinely understood and wanted this for herself, he agreed. As a result, Lori became the youngest child to be baptized in the church. Lori attended Ebenezer Elementary, Northwest Middle, and graduated from Travelers Rest High School. Lori found the love of her life while working with her mother and future mother-in-law at J.P. Stevens. From the very beginning, she and Randall were inseparable. At the time, Lori was enrolled at the School of Journalism, where she was even recognized in the "Who's Who" in journalism. However, instead of pursuing that career further, she chose to follow her love, Randall, to Texas as he began his career in the Air Force. Some of Lori's favorite things were bears, flowers, tigers, seashells, and anything that sparkled. These things can all be found in abundance in the loving home that she shared with her family. Lori loved rocks and collected them from everywhere she visited. Her favorite thing was to collect any rock she could find that was shaped like a heart. Soon, her family also learned to look for heart-shaped rocks to bring back to her from their travels. As her collection grew, Lori placed her heart rocks throughout her yard and gardens. She took great pride in her yard and tended it daily. Her latest passion was spending time gardening in her greenhouse that Randall had made specially for her on Mother's Day. Lori was an exceptional homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her husband deeply and never failed to remind him how special he was to her. She wrote Randall love notes with hand-drawn hearts and teddy bears to remind him that she was thinking of him. Lori loved the ocean, and she and Randall spent countless hours walking together on the beach looking for seashells. She poured into both of her daughters' lives, reminding them daily how much she loved and cherished them. To them, Lori was not only a mother, but also a best friend. She took great joy in caring for her family. Lori had an undeniable bond with her grandchildren and had a way of making every moment she spent with them magical. They spent nearly every day together baking, doing crafts, solving puzzles, and snuggling kittens. She taught her grandchildren and daughters about gardening, and they learned to share her deep love of trees, plants, and flowers. Lori was a member of Forestville Baptist Church. There, she poured her heart into the Encouragement Ministry and spent hours each week writing cards to fellow members, reminding them how much both she and God loved them. Her energy and love were magnetic, spreading smiles and sunshine everywhere she went. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2 PM at Forestville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the Celebration of Life. Afterward, the family will be at their respective homes.
