Norma Jean Brewton

Norma Jean Hester Brewton, 86, of Greenville, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Fred James Hester, and the late Mildred Zena James Hester. Norma was a 1956 graduate of Parker High School. She was a Domestic Engineer for most of her life and enjoyed working in the childcare field caring for children. She was a loving grandmother to all the children around her! She loved her family & friends and enjoyed spending time and making memories with them. She was a devoted church member at Berea FBC until 1970 when the family relocated to Calhoun, GA where she had many dear friends and participated in the community. She joined Calhoun FBC where she faithfully served for 29 years. She was a member of the adult choir and was a leader in many children’s activities. Norma loved children and cared for many from infancy. She was a baby “magnet” and was drawn to any baby she encountered. Norma had a beautiful soprano voice and loved music, especially in church. She was an amazing seamstress and made many clothes for her sisters and daughter through the years. Family was her whole life and she and her three sisters had a fierce bond; if you messed with one, you got them all! Linda & Barbara will miss her and Betty greatly. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Maurice Brewton of Greenville, one daughter, Cindy Mitchell (Mike) of Woodstock, GA., step children, Deitra Page, Kevin Brewton (Mariah), seven grandchildren, Camille Goble (Andrew), Amanda Adams (Heath), Rachel Gregory (Michael), Camden Page, Chloe Page, Jackson Currin, and Audrey James Currin, five great grandchildren, Stella Goble, Vivian Adams, Eloise Adams, Rocklan Gregory, and Maddux Gregory, two sisters, Linda Ray (Jimmy), Barbara Campbell, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by one son, Rocky Mckinney, one sister, Betty Alice Winegard. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Berea First Baptist Church on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The family will be receiving friends 1 hour prior to service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Chad Rickenbacher. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Miracle Hill Ministries at P. O.
