Paul C. Peterson

Paul Peterson, 77, of Greenville, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Jack’s Creek, Yancey County, NC, he was a son of the late James B. and Lola Renfro Peterson. Mr. Peterson was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict; he was a retired Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Inspector with the City of Houston, TX; He was of the Baptist Faith recently attended Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Ebenezer Masonic Lodge/ honorary member of Cooper Masonic Lodge, Hejaz Shrine Temple, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, former member of Reagan Masonic Lodge, Houston, TX, the Greenville County Planning Commission, South Carolina Silver Haired Legislator; a volunteer at the Confederate Museum of Greenville. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Peggy Ingleburger Peterson; nephew “son”, Baron Carroll (Cyndi) and their children, Caleb and Joshua; a niece “daughter”, Sherry Kelm (Ron); his godchildren, Chris Kelm, Nicole Wylie (Keir) and their children; three brothers, Monroe, Homer and Tommy Peterson; a sister, Margaret Yelton (Frank); a sister-in-law, Stella Peterson, brothers-in-law, Bill Garland and J. W. Hayes. Other special relatives, David Cardwell, B.R. Carroll (Geneva) and children, Kay I Sykes (Shannon) and children, Evon I Peterson and son, Lois I Stafford and children, Melissa I Richard (Dennis) and children, DeWayne Ingleburger (Bernadette) and children, Rene’ I Cathey (Bodee) and children, Kimberley Ingleburger, Jerry Boyle and many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews; great-great nieces & nephews and extended family. Predeceased by siblings: Maggie Cardwell, Dick Peterson, Betty Whitson, Polly Garland & Jean Hayes. The family wishes to acknowledge the devoted care of Private Nurse Evon Peterson, VaughnDe Peterson and the many other friends/ relatives/ agencies who provided dedicated acts of service/ kindness. A Memorial service was held at 1 o’clock Saturday November 16, 2013 at The Howze Mortuary Chapel. A second Memorial Service will be held in Houston on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Heights First Baptist Church, 201 East 9th Street, Houston. A reception will take place at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.
