Paul Dee Soloman Rush

Paul Dee Soloman Rush, 49, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, passed away at his life long family home in Slater, SC, on September 8, 2025. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Paul was the beloved son of the late Elbert Dee Rush and MaryAnn Hart Rush. He shared a very special bond with his grandmother, Mary Bertha “Ma” Tilley Hart. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Danette Morgan Rush; Taylor Hensley, who he loved like a daughter; He treasured being a “Big Papa” to, Mason, Jaxton, and Azalynne. He also adored his nieces and nephews, Kaley and Gabriel Coates, and Ollie Morgan. Paul lived a life filled with faith, family, and simple pleasures. He loved Jesus, his country, and the great state of Texas, He loved his faithful four-legged companion, Bandit, and found great joy in hot rods, fishing, collecting knives, ball caps, hot wheels, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, and listening to Elvis Presley. True to himself, he was rarely seen in anything other than his worn overalls. In 2017 Paul began working proudly as a CDL truck driver, spending the last eight years with Covenant Logistics. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, including James Travis (Kay), Stanley (Linda), Gary (Romell), Ray Don (Darlene), and David Wayne (Bon Jean), and numerous cousins. He will also be remembered by his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny Morgan, and Tony and Melissa Bridgeman. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sisters, Mary Ann and Rita Jan; his grandparents Ephraim “Pat” Decator and Mary Bertha Tilley Hart; his grandfather James Thomas Rush; his grandmother Ruby Elizabeth Green Carpenter and her husband, Delbert Stanley Carpenter (step-grandfather); his aunt Teresa Carpenter Goad; and his uncles George Carpenter, Floyd Rush (Sharon), Delbert Lee Rush, and Roy Lee Hart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday in The Howze Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund.
