Zena (Lib) Elizabeth Yellis

Elizabeth “Lib” Yellis, age 99 of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville with her loving family by her side. Born in Greenville County, Lib was the daughter of the late Fred James Boling, and the late Lena Mae Upchurch Boling, and wife of the late Jack Yellis. She was a 1942 graduate of Welcome High School in Greenville. She always enjoyed serving others and tried to help in any way she could. She served as a receptionist for a transportation company for many years before retiring. She loved her family dearly and was an active member of Berea Church of Christ in Greenville where she enjoyed worshiping her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ with all of her heart. In addition to her husband and parents, Lib was preceded in death by two daughters, Zena Celee Cooper, and Cinthia Lavon Burdette; one sister, Evelyn Owens, and one brother, Tommy Boling. Also preceding her in death was her first husband of over 30 years, Fred Forister, who was the father of her children; J.T. Ward, to whom she married to for over 20 years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory one son, “Doug” Forister (Nancy) of Inman, SC, one son-in-law, Leland Burdette of Greenville, SC, caregiver Lynne Hartin of Greenville, SC, 8 Grandchildren, and 22 Great-Grandchildren, and a number of other family members and friends. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 2:00 from the Chapel of The Howze Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the Mortuary beginning at 12:00 until the funeral hour. Her Grandson, Pastor “Steve” Forister will officiate the service, and serving as Pallbearers are Jason Forister, Kevin Ward, Tim Nix, Max Forister, Andrew McGaughran, Sammy Harris; honorary pallbearers are Scott Harris, Gene Burdette, Steve Burdette, and Sean McGaughran.
