Betty Dalton Tindle Knight

February 22, 1927 - February 2, 2022

Betty Joe (Dalton) Tindle Knight, 94, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, February 2, 2022, at Southern Oaks Rehabilitation in Piedmont, SC. Betty was born in Fredonia, Kansas on February 22, 1927, to the late Elmer William Dalton and Opal Fyfe Dalton. She grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Fredonia, KS. She served at Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia, KS, sharing her faith, teaching Sunday School, and was in the choir. At First Baptist Church in Moline, KS she organized Bible Schools. Betty was talented in butchering deer and putting up a garden. She worked for several years at William Newton Memorial Hospital in various departments, including being a nurse’s aide, labor and delivery, and physical therapy. She ended her working career as a cook for the Moline/South Elk School District and helped at the Moline Senior Center with preparing meals. Upon her retirement, Betty continued her many hobbies: woodworking, painting, sewing, and quilting to name a few. She was always an active person and always loved to find a bargain. In April of 2013 Betty moved to Piedmont, SC to live near her youngest son where she attended Tanglewood Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. Betty will be sorely missed and remembered by so many. Surviving to cherish her memory are a daughter: Bethany Tindle Colboch (Steve) of Lakeside, AZ; 4 sons: Thomas J. (Linda) Tindle of Grove, OK, Elmer Roy (Mary) Tindle of Easley, SC, Robert L. (Marsha) Tindle of Fredonia, KS and Roger (Linda) Tindle of Piedmont, SC; sister: Patricia Fields of Hemmit, CA; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Betty was also preceded in death her first husband, Thomas R. Tindle of Fredonia KS and also by her second husband, Floyd C. Knight of Moline, KS; daughter: Sharon Tindle Sullivan of Mobile, AL; son: Jack Tindle of Howard, KS; 3 sisters: Geraldine Parks, Nora Reynolds, and Bonnie Lockman and 1 grandchild. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Graceland West Cemetery in Greenville, SC. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000 – Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
