Edward "Bootsie" Coggins

March 23, 1937 - May 8, 2022

Edward Carroll “Bootsie” Coggins, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greenville County, SC, he was the son of the late Haskell Coggins and Annie Mae (Tripp) Coggins Laws. Edward was a US Air Force Veteran; retired from JP Stevens – Slater Plant after 44 years of dedicated service and a member of Lima Baptist Church. Edward is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Ann (Holt) Coggins; daughter: Lavonda Owen and husband Don of Marietta; son: Randall Coggins of Travelers Rest; granddaughter: Kimberly Burns and husband Scott of Travelers Rest; grandson: Nathan “Bud” Coggins and wife Sarah of Travelers Rest; great-granddaughters: Kylie Burns and Ella Mae Burns; great-grandson: Bryson Burns. Along with his parents, Edward was predeceased by two brothers: Robert Coggins and Wilton Coggins, Jr., and his stepfather: Sammie Laws. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Lima Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lima Baptist Church, 7 Lima Baptist Church Rd., Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
