Emmett Houston Edwards, Jr., 79, of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at his home. Born in Greenville, SC, Houston was the son of the late Emmett Houston and Helen Vera Hodgens Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a 1960 Graduate of Parker High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He was a US Army Reserve Veteran, was retired from James M. Pleasant Co. and sang with the Greenville Textile Heritage Society Chorale. Houston was a communicant of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Houston was very creative in Art and Music and was an avid fly fisherman. He enjoyed pottery, macrame, jewelry making, painting and fly tying. Houston was the ultimate Southern gentleman with a great love for Judy, Matt, Rusty, Michael, his seven grandchildren, and many friends. He was most loved by his family and friends and his absence will be keenly felt for years to come. Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Judy Ann Williams Edwards; a son, Houston Matthew (Matt) Edwards; two stepsons, Paul Marvin (Rusty) Compton, III (Dana) and George Michael Compton (Mindy) and seven grandchildren: Hadley Rose Edwards, Chandler Anne Wendel (Tim), Harrison Evan Compton (Gabrielle), Kenzy Lee Compton, Cole Richard Compton, Ashlyn Kathleen Compton and Falon Michal Louise Compton. A Memorial service will be held at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Greenville. The family will receive friends at the home after the service.
