Gary Ferguson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Conrad Gary Ferguson, 85, devoted husband of 63 years to Jeannie Sayers Ferguson, died peacefully at home on February 19, 2022. Son of the late James Homer and Lillie Mae Batson Ferguson, Gary was born and lived the majority of his life in the Little Texas Community of Travelers Rest. He was part of a long line of Fergusons and Batsons who made northern Greenville County their home for at least the past 200 years, and lived on the same land his grandmother picked cotton on years ago. He was a graduate of Travelers Rest High School and served proudly in the United States Army. He retired from Stevens Aviation after 36 years of service. Gary was a long-time member of Clearview Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He loved his church and would often invite friends and relatives to visit. In addition to his wife Jeannie, he is survived by two daughters, Regina Ferguson Fowler (Forrest) of Travelers Rest and Scottie Ferguson of Greenville, grandson Joshua James Fowler of Travelers Rest, sister Kay Robertson of Easley and brother William Frank Ferguson of Florida. He was preceded in death recently by grandson Forrest Caleb Fowler of Asheville, NC and brother-in-law Walter Edward “Eddie” Sayers, Jr. of Greenville. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends that were all very special to him. Gary never meant a stranger or an enemy. He loved his family, horses, bluegrass music, Clemson football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball and his Little Texas community. Services will be 2:30 pm Thursday, February 24th at Clearview Baptist Church, with graveside services following immediately thereafter at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clearview Baptist Church Mission Minded Sunday School class or the Travelers Rest Historical Society
