Hazel Styles Hayes

March 17, 1923 - January 10, 2021

Hazel Styles Hayes, 97, of Travelers Rest, wife of the late Edward J. Hayes, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Brian Center Rehab in Weaverville, NC, where she had lived for the last two and a half years with declining health and dementia. Born in Travelers Rest, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Minnie Lee McCauley Styles. She was a hairdresser for forty years in her shop on Love Drive in Travelers Rest, where she resided for sixty-six years. She was a member of Enoree Baptist Church and attended regularly as long as she was able. Her sister, Frankie Styles, was so faithful on taking her to McDonalds for coffee, to visit, speak to friends and just being together. She also had a special niece, Jean Rycroft, who visited regularly as well many of friends and family who sat on the front porch with her to visit. She is survived by her son: Roger Hayes (Pamela); a sister: Frankie Styles; 3 grandsons: Dale, Chad, and Joseph Hayes; great-grandsons: Christian, Blake, and Adam Hayes; a great-granddaughter: Alyssa Hayes; a great-great-granddaughter: Aubri Leigh; and a special niece: Jean Rycroft. Along with her parents and husband she was predeceased by eight brothers: Troy Styles, Emery Styles, Jr., Hoke Styles, Ezell Styles, George Styles, Donald Styles, Ben Styles, and Marvin Styles; four sisters: Myrtie Styles, Blanche Varn, Frances Littlefield, and Carolyn Hinson. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, 950 West Faris Rd.
