Heyward "Metz" Robertson

HEYWARD (METZ) ROBERTSON TRAVELERS REST, SC Heyward Metz Robertson, 80, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend & boss went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2011. Born in Travelers Rest, SC Metz was a son of the late William Ralph and Almeada Crain Robertson. He was a graduate of Travelers Rest High School, and studied at Georgia Tech. He served in the US Navy Air Corp during the Korean War; retired from Bell South as a Building Operation Manager and while with Bell South he was awarded the Community Living Award for the state of South Carolina. Mr. Robertson was a member of the Cooper Masonic Lodge #282, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, and the Elks Club where he was the Exalted Ruler. He was President of the Pioneer Tractor Club and was a member of several area Country/Bluegrass Bands where he played the Steel Guitar and the Dobro. He was also a Boy Scout leader, a Little League Baseball Coach, and he loved to play golf, fish and work on his antique tractors. He is survived by his Bride of 28 ½ years, Karen Burnett Robertson; a daughter Lisa R. Gadd and husband Jeff of Duncan; two sons, Marc Steven Robertson and wife Lori of Inman and Kevin Metz Robertson and wife Noriko of Vallejo, CA. His Special Joyous grandchildren, Kanami, Satomi, Kody, Alyss and Kamden; a nephew, Daniel Wood; a niece, Fran R. Bennetts; a great nephew, Zack Wood; aunts, Mira Crain Mason and Frances Robertson Vest; and a great friend, Lindy Kock. He was predeceased by a brother, William Ralph Robertson, Jr., a sister, Doris R. Wood, and a nephew, Timothy Wood. A Memorial Service will be held on May 16, 2011 at 3:30 in the afternoon, at The Howze Mortuary Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held in McKinney Hall at Trinity Presbyterian Church immediately after the service. Honorary escorts will be, Lindy Kock, Barry Burdette, George Parris, Allen Robertson, Pete Threadgill, Jerry Styles, Wayne Johnson, Jim McDade, Zack Wood, Bruce Cannon, Morris Williams, Ron Hall and Hugh Crain.
