Dr Arlen G Mills

Dr. Arlen G. Mills, 75, of Lyman, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his home. Born in Burke, SD, he was a son of the late Marvin Walter and Loraine Melva Alford Mills. He was a graduate of Evangel University in Springfield, MO, and the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO. He was a retired Doctor of Veterinary Medicine having worked a private practice in Coshocton, OH, Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Dairy Agent for Penn State University, USDA Veterinary Medical Officer, Private Practice in Mt. Airy (Mt. Airy Veterinary Hospital) and taught Veterinary Medical Technology at Central Carolina Community College. After retirement, Dr. Mills did relief work at Landrum Veterinary Hospital and Kanuga Animal Clinic. Dr. Mills was a member of Gideons International, American Veterinary Medical Association, South Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. If Arlen could speak today, he would say that the most important thing he ever did was to receive Jesus Christ as his Savior. He realized that he fell short of God's perfect standard of holiness, and believed the truth that Jesus gave His life to pay the penalty for man's sin. God made all the difference in his life, and now he is experiencing pure joy in Heaven with his Lord. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Cheryl DellaPenna Mills; children: Kristen Bright (David), Emily Fairbanks(Mark), Joseph Mills, Ruthie Swoveland (Ryan); grandchildren: Sarah Gula (Yuriy), Rebecca Voznyi (Sasha), Matthew Bright (Lydia), Benjamin Bright (Megan), Rachel Bright, Hannah Bright, Lydia Bright, Joshua Bright, Abigail Bright, Joanna Bright, Caleb Bright, David Bright, Andrew Fairbanks, Anabelle Fairbanks, Trevor Mills, Luke Swoveland; great-grandchildren: Andre Gula, Timothy Gula, David Gula, Anna Gula, Alex Voznyi, Emma Voznyi, Ella Voznyi, Olivia Voznyi, Alina Voznyi; siblings: Verne Mills (Cindy), Marlys Waters (Jeff), Terry Hartzler (Marvin), Sharla Allen (Dan); and brother-in-law: Ronald DellaPenna (Shari). The family will receive friends Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10am until 11am at The Howze Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11am at The Howze Mortuary chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Landrum, SC. The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideon’s International P.O. Box 6284 Hendersonville, NC 28793.
