Fred Allie Dyal

Fred Allie Dyal, 81, husband of Marilyn McGriff Dyal, of Travelers Rest, SC, died Saturday, November 29, 2025, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Raised in Ware Shoals, SC, he was one of 10 children born to the late Joseph and Lucy Smith Dyal. Fred was a retired wastewater treatment plant operator with ReWa for 31 years, where he was a proud promoter of fundraising for the United Way. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping and fishing. Fred was a former commissioner for the North Greenville Fire Department and a Boy Scout leader in Piedmont and Travelers Rest. Prior to his declining health, he was an active member of Travelers Rest United Methodist Church, where he was a former co-leader (alongside his wife) of the youth group, active member of the United Methodist Men's Group, choir, and even a former janitor. Also, he spent time in his later years helping with the printing of church bulletins and mail outs of the Pew & Pulpit. Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife of 50 years are two children, James Nathan White and Charlotte Mangum (Preston); granddaughter, Jadyn Mangum; brother-in-law, Clyde Gilbert (Audrey); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maxine and Jim Smith; sister-in-law, Carolyn Dyal; and a host of nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Minzie Parks Dyal, sisters and brothers-in-law, Emaline and Bill Bagwell, Angie and Lenoir Fox, Virginia and Marvin Russel, Olean and Everette Lawson; sister, Janice Gilbert; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Barbra Dyal; Daniel and Joann Dyal, and Jerry and Patricia Dyal Special thanks to Prisma Hospice of the Foothills. The family appreciates the support and care that each member of the team provided that allowed Fred to be comfortable at home. The whole team was a much needed support system through this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will be held at Travelers Rest United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
