Jimmie Anglin Kay

Jimmie Anglin Kay, 81, formerly of W. Scenic Drive, Travelers Rest, wife of the late Donald Kay, went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2013. Born on October 12th, 1932 in Gainesville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Daniel Anglin. She graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1950 and continued her education in Spartanburg by becoming a registered X-Ray Technician. She married her high school sweet heart in 1952 and moved with him to Charleston where they worked as he completed his education. They moved to Travelers Rest in 1955. For many years Mrs. Kay helped her husband in the family business, Peoples Drug Store, where she served as bookkeeper or wherever she was needed. Mrs. Kay and her husband were members of Travelers Rest First Baptist Church for over fifty years. At times during those years she was a Girls’ Auxiliary leader, choir member, and finance committee member. She was also active in the community as a former Garden Club and Study Club Member. Mrs. Kay was proud of her family. She and her husband were married 59 years until his death. She was an exceptional “ from scratch” cook who had a massive cookbook collection. She was affectionately referred to by her family as “the best cook in town”. Surviving are three daughters, Libby Cunningham (Pat), Lorie Lopez (Cesar) and Lisa Martin (Thomas); 8 grandchildren, Katy Owen, Emily Dalton, Alex Lopez, Leslie Tiller, Elizabeth Martin, Jaime Cunningham, Zack Lopez, and Madeline Martin; 5 great grandchildren, Mikayla and Tyson Tiller, A.J. and Shane Lopez, and Grayson Owen. Her sister, Brenda Millwood, resides in Gaffney. Along with her parents she was also predeceased by a sister, Betty Sue Stubblefield. The family would like to thank the staff of The Woodlands at Furman and Interim Hospice for their excellent care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at The First Baptist Church of Travelers Rest at 10 o’clock with entombment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, formerly Grand View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10 o’clock at the Church, prior to the service.
