Mr. Perry Lee Bruce Jr.

Perry Lee Bruce, Jr. Townville, SC Perry Lee Bruce, Jr., 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18th, 2026. Perry was born in Travelers Rest, the son of Perry Lee Bruce, Sr. and Vera Lee Moody Bruce. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church for 30 years and was known as an avid fisherman. Perry had a deep love for Lake Hartwell, where he camped for many years with family and friends before moving there permanently in 1984. He spent the rest of his life fishing and generously sharing vegetables from his prolific garden with the entire neighborhood. Perry was a proud member of the U S Army. He joined in 1949 and served for three years as a mess sergeant in Germany, where he was known for causing a little trouble. For 40 years, Perry worked as a proud truck driver, maintaining a perfect driving record throughout his career. He was also a Shriner and helped many people during his lifetime. A devoted fan of the Clemson Tigers, Perry attended games regularly until health issues prevented him from continuing. He loved his family most of all and enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His greatest joys were family events, especially the Bruce Family Reunion and special family get-togethers. Perry is survived by his children: Steve Bruce (Charlene Yates), Michiel Bruce, and Linda “Lucy” Horton (Robert). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Perry Pittman (Amy), Kamdon Bailey, Alex Bruce (Summer), Blake Bruce (Megan), and Haley Trentham (Jordan), as well as his great-grandchildren: Liam, Aiden, and Nora. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kitty Garrett. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 11:30 am until 12:50 pm, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of The Howze Mortuary. The services will be livestreamed on The Howze Mortuary's Facebook page for those who cannot attend. Burial will follow at Mountain (Grand) View Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Interim Hospice, specifically Brianna and Amanda, for the wonderful care they provided for Perry.
